metadata.fyp.dc.description.abstract: The main focus of this project is to construct the hardware and software of hybrid process plant. During the completion of this machine, the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) company that previously produce Roselle juice using manual method can drastically change their method to become more reliable and efficient to compete with nowadays market. This machine will make their previous process become much easier with this automatic batch process. This process also can avoid accident to people due to safety features applied in this project. To produce Roselle juice from Roselle flower, the pilot plant scale of machine is required to control the process parameter such as temperature, level and the liquid mixing. This machine will be controlled by using OMRON Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) model CP1H with communication to computer using USB port. The OMRON PLC CX-Programmer version 9.4 software was used. The programming architecture was built using ladder programming method that involved Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), Timer (TIM), Compare (CMP), move (MOV), holding, interlock and also memory function. The operation of this project can be controlled at the plant. In this project, we constructed a pilot scale plant to process dried Roselle flower become Roselle juice. The plant built in this project is not intended for Roselle only but can also be used for any other food processing with some modifications or additions to the plant equipment, according to the processing instruction. This project also tries to look into the performance of the process and equipment being used to the manufacturing or industrial standard, and also consideration on the specification of the equipment to meet the process requirement.
