Title: SMS Voting System

Abstract: In this democracy world, voting is a way to determine and show the result choice of the majority. In Malaysia all earlier elections a voter used to cast his vote by using ballot paper and it is still being used until now. This is a long, time-consuming process and very much prone to errors. With people now getting busy in their work and voters had to come far away to voting centre while some voters don't like to wait in queues. Thus, due to this, voters don't visit to the polling booth. Nowadays some improvement is needed in this field. So this project, SMS Voting System is introduced so that people can just SMS to cast vote of their choice. It is a voting system based on SMS that is used to eliminate the drawback of traditional voting method with SMS is a key feature of the second generation (2G) mobile. In the second generation, GSM (global system for mobile communications) is very famous technology and is very widely used almost anywhere. With SMS voting system, there will be no more ballot paper, ballot boxes or indelible ink and no need to go to polling station. People can cast their vote anywhere and anytime as long as they have network service. They can just SMS to cast vote with their choice of candidate as it is limited only for one vote and the vote that received by the system will be live updated on the LCD screen. Everyone that SMS to vote will get acknowledgment or notification from the system regarding the vote casted so they will know what actually happen to their vote. All the vote will be stored in the EEPROM memory so even it is shut down, it will have all the vote count. The use of this SMS Voting System can reduce polling time, tally vote accurately without any mischief at the counting center and have more efficiency in getting overall results.
