Abstract: National Key Economic Area (NKEA) of Malaysia had outlined a few points for the future plan in order to achieve high economic income in the future. One of them are listed in EPP6, which is ‘Growing Shipbuilding & Ship Repair Services’. In other words, fisheries industry is included to grab to this chance. The main focus area included in EPP6 is modernizing fishing boat sector, enhance cabotage policy, creating supportive environment with right incentives, and centralising shipbuilding and ship repair under one ministry. In other words, the government is ready to funding fisheries industry. There will be a lot of benefits can be gained from this plan. The most important are the improvement of this sector will gain much profits for ship-owners and fishermen itself. Thus, all people from this sector should play a role to become the pioneer of modernizing the fisheries industry so that a bright future can be created and create more job chances.
