Abstract: A preliminary study on the micro structural effects of magnesium alloy AZ91HP on its failure behaviour were done. The aim of this study is to observe micro structural features of AZ91HP, examine fracture surface of all the mechanical tests of AZ91HP, and finally analyze the relationship on fracture surface due to fatigue test. A comprehensive study of the underlying principle, stages, and numerous factors that makes the AZ91HP to produce failure were carried out. Sand casting products of AZ91HP with variable defects will be determined by direct observation and recorded. This was closely followed by research work on the standard fracture surface analysis and the analysis of mechanical tests results. The fracture surface will also be analyzed to determine the type of fracture surface occurred during mechanical testing. Based on the research work stated above, an analysis of the relationship on the fracture surface due to mechanical testing was developed. The research will include the research background, the objectives, problem statement, research scope, literature review, methodology, results and discussion and the conclusion and recommendation parts.
