Abstract: | After the end of the Cold War around the year 1947–1991, the Navy studies and do experiments to determine the need for a new class of small surface combatants designed to operate in the congestion near shore region. The navy came out with Littoral Combat Ship which is capable of operating in a wide-range of environments, from the open ocean to coastal and littoral waters. M80 Stiletto classified as the Littoral Combat Ship which is the Navy’s newest class of warship. The M80 Stiletto is an American naval ship of a new generation type of ship utilizing advanced stealth technologies, it is manufactured and developed by American naval architecture and maritime engineering company and defense contractor the M Ship Company as an operational ship for The Pentagon’s Office of Force Transformation. The Stiletto was developed for high-speed military missions in the shallow water areas of littoral, and near-shore waters in support of Vice Admiral Arthur Cebrowski’s vision of a “brown-water Navy” for expeditionary combat in the 21st century. The study will come out with comparison between Stiletto with another multihull vessel show that the hull design will affect the major characteristics of the ship such as performance. |
