Title: PRELIMINARY STUDY OF DEFORMATION AND FAILURE BEHAVIOUR OF AZ91HP MAGNESIUM ALLOY
Authors: MOHAMAD ALIF AFWAN B. ABDUL MUTALIB 56267212096
Issue Date: 27-Sep-2016
Abstract: Preliminary study of defects and failure behavior from sand casting on AZ91HP magnesium alloy is performed. The research is been done to determine the effects of defects to the strength of Magnesium alloy AZ91HP. Sand casting products of AZ91HP with variable defects will be determined by visual observation. Mechanical testing will be carried out to determine the behavior of Magnesium Alloy AZ91HP. Tensile testing was carried out to determine the ultimate tensile strength, the yield strength and the elongation percentage while impact testing was carried out to determine the impact energy and impact strength. The fracture surface will also be analyzed to determine the type of fracture surface occurred during mechanical testing. The research will include the research background, the objectives, problem statement, research scope, literature review, methodology, results and discussion and the conclusion and recommendation parts.
