Abstract: Automatic Lighting System (ALS) in Lecturer Hall is created to reduce the power consumptions in university. This paper aims at designing and demonstrating the advanced development in embedded systems for energy saving of lights in lecture hall. The usage and the consumption of the lighting system can cause a lot of electrical energy wasted every day. Nowadays, human has become too busy, and is unable to find time even to switch off the lights whenever it not needed. Additionally, sometimes lecturers or students forget to switch off the lighting system before leaving the lecture hall. This paper gives the best solution for overcome the electrical power wastage. Also the manual operation of the lighting system is completely eliminated by designing this automatic lighting system. This project consists of an Arduino-UNO, an infrared sensor, a relays and an extension that had been modified. The Arduino-UNO is used to display the number of students in the lecture hall and the infrared sensor is used to detect the movement of people when they enter the lecture hall. The modified extension is used to place all the lamps.
