Abstract: This paper presents a study on tuning method of PID controller for controlling water flow. The design is implementing the usage of PCT51 model, PID controller board and Matlab. Higher and more precise measurement, comparison and adjustment in control process are very important. Basically this project focuses on the PID controller method used to control the flow of water to the desired set point. The electronic flowmeter, the centrifugal pump and the solenoid valve are connected to an electrical interface that incorporates the necessary signal conditioning, allowing the process to be operated directly from a PC using a single USB port. The process are operated using a controller such as PCT54 (PID Controller) connected to the electrical interface. The computer software supplied with PCT51 allows control of the flow process and data logging of the responses using a PC. Alternatively the software allows data logging only while operating the process remotely using a PID controller. The data obtain analyze in Matlab Toolbox Apps “System Identification” to determine the system original transfer function. Then the PID value is determined in Matlab to be use in real experiment. More stable and reliable system can be design by using this method.
