Abstract: Student attendance is one of the important issues for any institutions. This project paper presents to develop a system that reduce burden in analyzing student attendance. Automated student attendance monitoring system using RFID is a system that will take student attendance by using RFID technology. RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID is used to solve problems where it is necessary to automatically record student attendance in a university. RFID tags are affixed on student ID (identification) card to communicate wirelessly with RFID reader. When these tags pass through the reader generated interrogation field, they transmit information back to reader, thereby identifying them. A SMS (short message service) sent to parents using GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) modem to keep them updated the status of attendance of their child. This system is capable eliminating time wasted during manual collection of attendance and the entire of processing of this system is done without human intervention. Thus, the system is comprehensive, effective and efficient.
