Develop Attendance System Using RFID With Visual Basic (Kiosk)

Abstract

The rapid growth of information and communication technology field has made medium of information retrieval more advanced and complex. As the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has gained a lot of attention nowadays, the use of RFID in a wide range application has been successfully developed. Thus, this paper describes a brief introduction to application of attendance system and reviews some application of attendance system and techniques of data retrieval such as smart card, biometrics, barcode and RFID itself. This ongoing research would be applicable in collecting student attendance in classroom using RFID technology. Lecturer needs to register to the system by fill in the detail in the system given by inserting like lecturer name, subject and code subject. Students need to swap their card on the RFID reader and the code from the card will use to compare with database in Microsoft access. The student information like name and ID number will show on interface and that information will trigger into a list. This list will use as a student attendance. If the code were not match with database, it means that student was in the wrong class or not registers yet in that subject. When this happen, lecturer can register that student by using registering form and the information of that student will be update into database. Lecture also can print or email the attendance list after the class.
