Abstract: The cardiovascular dis-orders are increasing day by day. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is currently a leading cause of death worldwide. Drug-eluting stents (DESs) have been dominant for the treatment of CAD in the interventional cardiology world owing to their efficacy in significantly reducing restenosis as compare to metallic stents. However, late stage stent thrombosis has become a major concern. Stent platform, drug delivery vehicle and types of drugs are three parts of DES and each part affects the performance of the DES. This review gives real answer about safety control of restenosis and thrombosis in CAD by using drug eluting stent.
