Abstract: Erythrina indica Lam. (Fabaceae) is one of the popular Indian medicinal plant having a good number of traditional uses. Some of its medicinal usage has been mentioned in the traditional system of medicine such as Ayurveda, which includes treatment of asthma, as vermifuge, expectorant and in irregular menstruation. A large number of phytoconstituents such as: glycosides, saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenolic compounds and fatty acids have been reported. A thorough review of is traditional uses, chemical constituents and biological activities will support the future investigators for evaluating the potential use of this plant in various systems of medicines.
