dc.description.abstract | The use of Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP) in the past years has proven that it is one of the best method in producing composites. It involves a mold with a reinforcement and sealed with vacuum tubing around it. The purpose of this research is to understand much deeper the function semipermeable membrane and its capability in contributing to Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP). It involves the study of vacuum infusion process and it is done twice with two types of vacuum tubing, spiral tubing and semipermeable membrane. This research will briefly explained and compared between this two vacuum tubing. Few specimens will be produced and to look differential characteristics of this structure. The discussion about advantages and disadvantages between the two vacuum tubing will be described on the Chapter 3 after required data and information are obtained. The results after the testing was conducted are provided in chapter 4 of this research. The strength of the specimens with different tube and number of ply is tested using a tensile testing machine, Shimadzu AG-X 50kN. The results of the end product are presented in a graphical method. The calculation that is used in this research is provided in order to provide prove of the results. Failure of the specimen is discussed in this chapter. The discussion on the behavior of the failure and error that happened during the testing is added into this chapter. | en_US |
