dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the cylinder block analysis by using finite element method (FEM). This paper is to study and prediction the thermal analysis and stress analysis against to the cylinder block with difference material such as cast iron and aluminium alloys. The finite element analysis (FEA) software ANSYS Workbench 15.0 used to calculate the steady state temperature distribution under the thermal field and static structural analysis. Thermal analysis and Stress analysis is the process of analysing the effect of thermal and mechanical loads and heat transfer of the cylinder block. In this paper, thermal analysis and stress analysis have been analysed on the cylinder block, and thus temperature field has been coupled to the 3- Dimensional structure model using finite element method (FEM). This paper also describes convection effect between the surface of cylinder wall and the whole cylinder block body. Study of equivalent von-mises stresses at surface of combustion chamber, bolt hole surfaces and gasket surface on the cylinder block has been done by using ANSYS software. Results show that the aluminium alloys cylinder block is the good thermal conductivity and lightweight material compare to the cast iron cylinder block. The material of cast iron have weak thermal conductivity and weight material compare to the aluminium alloys material.en_US
