metadata.fyp.dc.description.abstract: The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has ammended a regulation for preventing pollution by oil from ships which are contained in Annex I of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973. Thus, the oily water from the bilges tank need to be filtered out to ensure the eco-friendly voyages and safer environment. Several researches has been made and found that an agricultural waste is part of the medium that can be used as the filter equipment. Agricultural waste, which includes both natural (organic) and non-natural wastes, is a general term used to describe waste produced on a farm through various farming activities. A lot of method had been carried out to treat the contaminated water.
