dc.description.abstractLorry rear bumper is a structure for lorry to prevent under ride crash with other vehicle during accident. Recent study showed that current / available design for this bumper is not effective to prevent under ride crash that usually lead to severe and fatal accident. The objective of this project is to model and analyze the performance of current / available design of the lorry rear bumper during car crash. This project also aims to improve current / available design of lorry rear bumper for better crashworthiness result and able to prevent under ride and analyze the performance and the crashworthiness of the modified rear bumper during vehicle collision. Last goal for this project is to optimize the rear bumper design for better crashworthiness and ability to prevent under ride. ABAQUS software is used to model the actual size of the bumper in Finite Element Model and simulate the car crash on the bumper. Velocity and displacement of the impactor that also modeled in ABAQUS software as well as the deformation of the bumper is also studied in this project.en_US
