| dc.description.abstract | The work presented here outlines the development of a programmable logic controller (PLC) based on autogate system. The inconveniences encountered in gate operations have called for immense search for solutions. The programmable logic controller based autogate offers everything necessary to put an end to these inconveniences as it incorporates the ladder diagram. Specifically , the system described in this paper monitor the entrance gate. Barrier gate will opens, waits for vehicles to move and close after the vehicle has left. The overall project is start with input from push button. Input from push button will send a signal to PLC. After push the push button, the barrier gate will opened for 15 seconds. The timer is set to 15 seconds, then after 15 seconds, the barrier gate will closed automatically. The barrier gate perform open and close, forward and reverse. As for the power source, it draw power from battery which was charge using solar panel. The autogate described here can be applied to automate the entrances to parking lots of organizations and public car parks. It used to avoid the stress of manually opening and closing the gate. The autogate developed in this project is unique in that it is controlled by PLC software, which can be modified any time the system demands a change. In overall, using power supply as power source is better choice instead of battery that have been charge with solar panel. It is because, the power of power supply can ensure stable energy than the battery. However, the battery can still be used as alternative power source because it is great source of renewable energy. | en_US |
