This paper describes the study on benefit and importance of the implementation of Salting Method for protection of images stored in an online server database. This type of security method is implemented on the password that will be used to gain access to images stored in an online server, and after implemented supposedly the data will be secured and cannot be compromised by internet intruders or also known as hackers. The general purpose of using this method is mainly because it provides the best type of security towards images, by implementing the method on the passwords used to gain access to the image stored in the database. By applying random string of characters on each plaintext passwords entered, it will make the password longer and more random which gives the hacker more time and trouble trying to crack the password and gain illegal access, thus avoid exploit of personal information. This study will review various algorithm to be used in securing the password, including password hashing algorithms MD5 and SHA-1, along with types of commonly used attack for this type of situation. A simulation using MATLAB GUI along with MySQL phpMyAdmin database will be conducted, which will reflect the real world application in securing password in database. The study will conclude with recommendation on the reliability of salting method in order to protect user's images in an online server database.en_US
