Abstract: The objective of this project is to develop a teaching aid, which is a replica of the Foster Wheeler-type ESD-I boiler. This model will help students gain a thorough understanding of steam flows and the complex control mechanisms involved in regulating the final superheated temperature (attemperator). The model has novel features, utilizing straw as water tubes and integrating servo motors, joystick controllers, and LED indicators to demonstrate steam flow patterns and damper actions. This interactive model provides students with vital insights into the intricate process of regulating steam flow within the attemperator. It also helps them understand the relationship between adjusting the damper and controlling the temperature of superheated steam. This practical method improves their comprehension of the operating concepts that regulate the ESD-I boiler, enabling them to fully understand the individual components and their interaction within the system. This teaching tool enhances students' knowledge by providing a realistic representation of steam flow characteristics and control mechanisms. It helps students develop a deeper understanding of boiler functionality and grasp the operational specifics of the ESD-I boiler.
