| Abstract: | This final year project explores the feasibility of implementing sports science principles in water sports, focusing on the UniKL MIMET Dragonboat team. The main objective is to study bollard pull, a measurement used to evaluate the power and strength of a vessel in industrial and nautical contexts. Using an Arduino component, it aims to develop a bollard pull metering system that can accurately measure the force exerted by the Dragonboat during propulsion. The application of sports science in athlete training has become increasingly crucial for improving performance. It involves analyzing the biomechanical aspects of human body movement during activities and using scientific principles to enhance sports performance through training methods. In this project, the goal is to measure the force generated by the Dragonboat using the concept of bollard pull and develop a measuring system based on Arduino technology. Additionally, this project provides an opportunity to learn skills related to systems and coding while collecting data on factors such as paddler count or the number of individuals involved. This project could potentially have implications beyond academia as it can contribute insights into injury prevention strategies and tailored training programs specifically designed for high-risk aquatic sports athletes. This project aims to apply principles from sports science to water sports and dragon boat racing. Aim to create a measurement system using an Arduino component to measure bollard pull accurately. The main objective of this project is to provide learning and datagathering opportunities, which could benefit the Dragonboat team in the field of sports science. |
