Abstract: With the evolving marine industry, universities are challenged to produce more competent graduates that is compatible with the industry. In this 21st century and growing world, outlook of youths does change according to the era we live and the outlook of the people where they are becoming more and more open minded. This study surveys the students’ of DME / DEEM / BME / BEEM preparation in becoming a seafarer in UniKL MIMET, Lumut, Malaysia. This study identify students and experts’ (including teaching staff and lecturers) views regarding the relevance, quality, and preparedness of future seafarers of UniKL MIMET Using a questionnaire as the survey instrument, the respondents are sectioned into three categories: students, lecturers and alumni. The research found that the students are mentally ready in becoming a seafarer. In addition, they are also well-equipped with knowledge needed for and regarding the industry. It was also found that the university is prepared and ready to accommodate the needs of the challenging job/industry. This study also states the implications on the university and future research.
