dc.description.abstractA direct diffusion bonding between marine grades aluminium alloy AA5083 and steel A36 was carried out in an atmospheric condition at a fixed temperature value of 550°C. Specimen were heated in a furnace at a fixed value of 60 min holding time under a pre-pressed condition with variables of pressure between 6MPa, 7MPa, 8MPa, 9MPa, and 10MPa. All five specimens were successfully joint according to the planned parameters. Strength of the specimen joining was measured via Izod Impact Test. Test resulted with an average value of 1.254J and the highest value of impact load was 1.425J by specimen number three at a pressure of 8MPa. For this experiment, it showed that the strength of joints increased, for the specimen number one, two, three, respectively. However, on specimen four and five, the strength of the joints decreased. Improper surface preparation affected the strength of specimens joining thus resulted in low value of impact load.en_US
