This paper is represented a prototype design of a Smart Electrocardiogram using Arduino microcontroller which displays the output simultaneously transmitting the data to an Android smartphone via Bluetooth module. As medical students, we already know that the electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple diagnostic test which records the electrical activity of the heart over a set time period via the process of attaching the electrodes at particular points on a patient’s body. The correct placement of electrodes is vitally important as misplacement can result in misinterpretation diagnosis. In order to be able to interpret an Electrocardiogram (ECG), a basic understanding of the heart’s electrical conduction system is required [1]. In human body, the most important part is the heart. Thus, it is important to follow-up and monitored the condition. Therefore, there is crucial to design and develop an inexpensive prototype device for monitoring heartbeat or known as self pre-diagnostic device. This project was combinations of hardware and software interpretation. The output, which is a clean ECG signal, will then display on PC and then transmit to Android Smartphone via Bluetooth module. The overall process is involved in the development of a portable system which can be used for health condition monitoring or for educational and research purpose.en_US
