The requirements of interior cabin baggage compartment with respect to the passenger cabin are investigated. Flammability characteristics of various natural fibres commonly used for cabin compartment are analysed and determined with respect to ignition temperatures, burning rates and products produced. Then, various flammability tests are critically analysed, which is horizontal Bunsen test, vertical Bunsen test and 45 degree test. The processes involved as well as the aims of the tests are evaluated. Besides, the validity of the tests with respect to cabin interior baggage compartment requirement is examined. The result from the experiment will be evaluated base on the standard parameter by the regulation. The FAR 25.853 has given some guideline to be followed. The certification plan for the natural fibre has to be constructed. This certification plan is to provide guidance to owners, operators and maintenance organisations regarding flammability requirement for an aircraft.en_US
