Title: Developing Software For Designing Patch
Authors: Abdul Syakur Bin Ahmad Afif
Issue Date: 15-Sep-2015
Abstract: The purpose of the project is to develop software as an aiding tool in sheet metal repairs activities. The program is focusing on the designing patch for aircraft sheet metal repairs. The calculation by the program will be based on the approval aircraft structural repairs notes including manuals and books. By using the software the repairer only need to key in some information or data based on the damage before the software calculate and give all the numbers that are required in preparing the patch layout. This can increase the productivity of the works and saving time. The software is to be made by using Microsoft Visual Basic, a programming tool software. Visual Basic is a tool that allows you to develop Windows (Graphic User Interface - GUI) applications. The applications have a familiar appearance to the user. Visual Basic is a high level programming language which was evolved from the earlier DOS version called BASIC. It is a very easy programming language to learn. The codes look a lot like English Language. The tests results conclude that the development of the software meets the objectives of the project. It is proven that the uses of the software could reduce the time consumed to calculate the information required for specific sheet metal task. Beside that the software is classified as user-friendly based on the feedbacks gave by the tested users.
