Abstract:
This project is focus on a study of the utilization of railway infrastructure and
related facilities as competitive modes of transport at Padang Besar, Perlis. This research
study is related with Inland Container Depoh (ICD) and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad
(KTMB) Kargo service at Padang Besar, Perlis. Padang Besar Inland Container Depoh
(ICD) is link with Kedah Line railway track which is located at northern region of
Peninsular Malaysia. Kedah Line railway is a part of the Main Line at Bukit Mertajam
which leading to North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT) at Butterworth Station
and Railway State of Thailand at Padang Besar Station. This railway track is linked with
the Main Railway Line towards South of Peninsular Malaysia. These entire networks of
railway has been administrated and operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad
(KTMB). Presently, along the Kedah Line of railway had some other stations which are at Bukit Tengah, Bukit Mertajam, Tasek Gelugor, Jarak, Penanti, Sungai Petani, Gurun,
Jenun, Alor Setar, Tunjang, Arau, Bukit Keteri and Padang Besar.
