dc.description.abstract This project presents a development of single-phase to three-phase converter by using static conversion method. The power converter will be able to convert the single phase 240 VAC supply to balanced three phases 240 VAC to power the three phase AC motor. This converter consists of a three phase motor, capacitors that act as the main components and the availability of single phase supply. This converter has a wide range of applications in which a three phase motor is a main component and the available supply is single phase. Such applications include variety of farming equipment, fans, pumps, air conditioners and etc. The static converter using a capacitor to generate the third phase of the three phase supply. It uses motor start capacitors to start a 3 phase motor on single phase power. These capacitors are disconnected once the motor reach full RPM. The motor continues to run on the 2 single phase lines of power. Two-thirds of the motor windings are being energized, producing approximately two-thirds of the motors power. en_US
