Abstract:
Spiral water nozzle jet is one of a new study for enhancement of capability of wide
range usage namely fire fighting, cleaning apparatus and fire suppression system or where is
needed. This paper assesses the influence of parameters on long nozzle, spiral criteria, the
characteristic of flow and selection of material. Since the limitation of making spiral in small hole
which crucial in water jet, the study on design of cutting tools is included. Experiments were
conducted in varying water pressure, nozzle and spiral length, nozzle and spiral angle, depth
and number of spiral and pattern of spray water. The effects of these parameters on spray
pattern have been studied based on the experimental results. In order to correctly select the
process parameters, an empirical model of Aluminum Alloy 1060 for the prediction of result such
as velocity and spray pattern was developed using regression analysis beside of simulation
analysis. This developed model has been verified with the experimental results that reveal a
high applicability of the model within the experimental range used.
