A Study To Improve The Efficiency At Reefer Block Of Johor Port Container Terminal

Abstract

This study focuses on the improvement the efficiency at reefer block of Johor Port Container Terminal (JCT). To make an improvement toward efficiency, Container department is functional as technical optimizer to reefer block area becomes smoothly operation. The objective of this research was to identify problems, to reduce mishandling and to improve the exact positioning of reefer container at the reefer block. Research for this thesis was undertaken by both a survey and interview. The respondents of this study were port users in container terminal area. This paper will identify the problems happened at reefer block of container such as mishandling, power failure and faulty cable will deter the enhancement of reefer cargo throughput. Data was then entered into a Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for further analysis. The response rate was considered reasonable given the nature of the study and its limitations. The finding in this research also indicate the additional problem in sense of computerize system at receiving section that need to focus for getting improvement to JBP operation as one of source national income contributor.
