dc.description.abstract Current electric trains use railway to move and lead to high capital cost, longer travel time, and vibration effect to the surrounding building. An Evacuated Tube Tranport and Hyperloop are example of new promise technology that can overcome those problems. In order to reduce the design processing time, an optimization model is applied to optimized the proposed magnetic pulsed linear accelerator. This paper discussed the optimization of magnetic pulsed linear accelerator using Genetic Algorithm (GA). A magnetic pulsed linear accelerator is supplied with a 0.5J electrolyte capacitor. The accelerator’s coil is made from a 18AWG insulated copper wire wound at a 2cm diameter cylindrical tube. The projectile is made from a 10g cylindrical ferromagnetic material with diameter of 1.8cm. A thyristor 2N6403 is used as switching device that connect the electrolyte capacitor to the accelerator’s coil. A freewheeling diode is attached parallel with the accelerator’s coil to protect the thyristor from the return current from the accelerator’s coil. The accelerator’s coil outer diameter and its length, are the two parameters chosen as optimization parameters. The objective functions are to have highest projectile speed and magnetic field density. The results showing the optimized magnetic pulsed linear accelerator have an optimum projectile speed of 2.04ms-1 with 3.43T magnetic field density. The accelerator’s coil outer diameter is 60mm and 230mm in length. These values are obtained from the GA Pareto front output. en_US
