Web-based Technological Approach for Remote Monitoring of Elderly to Promote Health and Wellbeing Living

Abstract

A health supported application has been a growing interest especially for elderly group of users. It is becoming a trend nowadays for elderly to stay home alone. Thus, it is vital to provide a health monitoring application to cater these needs. In this paper, the adoptability of web-based and RFID technology are discussed and used as a main platform the initial prototype as Indoor Elderly Tracking System (IETS) for an elderly care centre. The prototype is intended to serve as a monitoring point to provide an easy access of locating the elderly within the designated area. The paper proposes possible objective of IETS, describing the features and interface of the prototype. Result from analysis of testing and evaluation of IETS shows a promising outcome.
