dc.description.abstract The accurate measurement of earth resistance is fundamental to electrical safety. However, geological and meteorological factors can have a considerable effect on the accuracy of conventional measurements and the validity of the measurement methods. This project is development for earthing measurements and earthing system performance in the context of both geological and meteorological effects. Earthing is a connection between the metallic parts of an electrical wiring system and general mass of the earth. Good earthing will provide an easy path with a low impedance or resistance to earth to enable the protection system to operate effectively. The suggestion valued for earth resistance is below 8Ω. The developments are used medium range ultrasonic sensor to measure range needed between the earth electrode and spike to replace conventional methods to be used in residential building. Results from the sensor will be displayed on the liquid crystal display (LCD). Microcontroller will be used to convert output from the sensor into range unit in centimeter. C programming used to do the conversion process. The main focus of this study is on reliability of innovation and development of earthing tester will be proposed, tested and applied to the analysis and design of the earthing tester. This research study will concludes with recommendation on the development of earthing system in term of system as well as topology system and configuration. en_US
