Abstract:
The increase number of disabilities people are also include those who use the wheelchair as their daily basis of doing work. One of the difficulty faced by the wheelchair user is when they need to go through a sharp slope of the pathway for the wheelchair user. The purposed of this project is to help the wheelchair user to overcome some of their difficulties which where they had a hard time to go through the sharp slope of their pathway. The features relevant to self-levelling include sensors and motorized levelling seat. Methods of performing the project include calculations and simulations that involved component and hardware such as gyro sensors and linear motor. The benefits of this self-levelling wheelchair is that it can assists some people with critical condition that need to balance themselves when using wheelchair when going through a slope. And it can be apply to a regular wheelchair. The idea of making this project was when seeing the struggle of a wheelchair bonded person to stabilize themselves when going through a slope and sometimes will caused discomfort for the wheelchair user. Currently, the standard wheelchair designs have some limitations and cannot perform standard routines tasks and often the wheelchair user will hardly to stabilize themselves when going through sharp slope or ramps. The new technology called is Self-Levelling Wheelchair for Mobility Enhancement. The features relevant to self-levelling include sensor and motorized levelling seat. The sensor, linear actuator motor and power supply were attached to the regular wheelchair. The sensor were to detect slope or ramps and send it to the linear actuator motor to elevate the seat of the wheelchair so that the wheelchair user will experienced a stable condition when going through a slope or ramps. A self-levelling wheelchair will allow the user to utilize the same assistive mobility equipment to maneuver on slope as well as on flat surfaces.
