Abstract:
This article aims to identify the factors influencing accounting students’ perception of the effectiveness of internship programmes. In a study conducted on this subject, a research model proposed, where the knowledge in accounting, capability of putting theories into practices and expectations of future profession are the factors influencing accounting students’ perception of the effectiveness of internship programmes. The result obtained from this study’s regression analysis showed that expectations of future profession is the most influencing factor of accounting student’s perception of the effectiveness of internship programmes. Besides, soft skills were identified as the most significant benefit obtained from the three most developed skills; interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and personal confidence or self-esteem.
