dc.description.abstract This paper presents the finding of a study on the use of BIM as tool and the use of energy simulation software to refurbish University Kuala Lumpur City Campus building. Majlis Amanah Rakyat also known as MARA is the owner of this building. The main purpose of the study is to model the 3d parametric model of UniKL building using BIM. In modeling the 3D parametric model, information from technical drawings from the consultants will be extracted and used. From the informative model, the building performance will be analyzed using energy simulation software. The building will be refurbished to improve the building performance by changing the glazing. The refurbishment for this study will only focus on type of the glazing of UniKL City Campus building façade. The use of 50% low performances glasses on the building façade at UniKL City Campus result the major cooling energy loss. The main cause of cooling energy loss in UniKL City Campus is because of the solar energy gain through glass façade. [Zahari, 2013]. In the end, the workflow of translating BIM into gbXML format will provide researcher to design an efficient new building or refurbished building in future study by using BIM as tool. At the meanwhile, it will help AEC industry to realize the importance of BIM and its use in designing and constructing the building in efficient and effective way. en_US
