dc.description.abstract This project was built to overcome the double parking issue in a developing country. The objective of this project is to develop a double-parking alert device which involves the combination of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) modem and Near Field Communication (NFC) module. By the help of NFC Module, the contact number of the vehicle owner will be registered in the NFC card/tag and the NFC card/tag will be installed at the vehicle windshield. Then, the NFC reader module will read the information contain in the NFC card/tag. After that, the data received by the NFC reader module will send the data from the NFC card/tag to the Arduino UNO for the next process. Next, the Arduino UNO will command the GSM Modem to send SMS to the contact number registered in the NFC card/tag detected by the NFC reader module. The advantages using GSM are the GSM security facilities are extremely protected. For the results, when the device detects a NFC card or tag, the device will proceed to send SMS to the contact number registered in the NFC card/tag. After the SMS is sent, the LCD display will show “MESSAGE SEND!” to indicate that SMS has been sent to the vehicle owner to move their vehicle. As a conclusion, this project has achieved the objectives to develop a device for double parking alert system by using a combination of GSM modem and NFC module. It also improves the disadvantage of existing double parking approach in which the offenders failed to leave their contact number on the dashboard of the vehicle. en_US
