Abstract:
In the building sector the highest energy saving potentials can be realized by energy
efficient building design. The energy efficiency of buildings is significantly influenced
by passive and active design strategies. This paper will do a case study (feasibility
study) of the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKLMFI) Welding
Workshop using building simulation software Integrated Environmental Solutions
(IES-VE). The measure on the potential for improvements were based on the passive
design strategies, Malaysian Standard 1525 (MS1525:2014) and energy efficiency
elements in Green Building Index (GBI). The problem statement is the Workshop MFI
was design and build without green building concept or strategies. The scope of this
study will be focusing the feasibility study of building envelope for energy efficient
building as a baseline use with IES-VE software. The energy consumption and indoor
comfort level can slightly improve where the reduce value of Overall Thermal Transfer
Value (OTTV) and Roof Thermal Transfer Value (RTTV). The value of OTTV and RTTV
are important as an indicator for energy efficient building envelope.
