dc.description.abstract Deforestation is one the big issues nowadays that could produce big impact to our environment globally. There are many harmful consequences that could happen and affecting us in massive scale. One of the main reasons of deforestation is our needs towards timber, harvested and utilize for various applications. The by-product materials produced in the timber processing could be utilized, such as sawdust residue that is discussed in this project. This residue characteristics allows it to be moulded into wood-based panel in composite form. Sawdust-filled epoxy composite produced in this project recorded the ultimate tensile strength at 27.110 Mpa and 4.830 kN load at peak for 20% sawdust weight percentage. Plus, the final appearance, characteristic and aesthetical value of this proposed material turn out to be one of the criteria in material selection for indoor furniture design depending on their design and functionality. This proposed alternative material also give a new glimpse of the waste material that destined to be a residue and thrown away. Optimistically, by the application of sawdust into indoor furniture design perhaps will diversify the usage of this by-product material in order to reduce our needs in timber and as well as controlling the number of deforestation globally. en_US
