dc.description.abstract Residual stress and distortion have become a major concern in the structural integrity of a welded structure. The residual stress which is undesirable is observed in steel welds after completion of solidification and after the weld is cooled to room temperature. They result due to thermal contraction that occurs during cooling. These residual stresses also give rise to distortion. In this project, the capability of FEM (Finite Element Method) Simufact Welding software to analyze and predict the residual stress and distortion in T-Joint and Y-Joint tubular using process simulation on Simufact Welding. The dimension for T-Joint and Y-Joint for horizontal tubular are 150mm diameter with thickness 4.75mm and for vertical tubular diameter is 50.88mm with thickness 2mm of material HSLA S355 (High Strength Low Alloy) use as parent material provides better mechanical properties than carbon steel and good in formability and weldability. Welding deformation not also affects the accuracy to being fabricated or assembly but also make the weldment quality became valueless. The Goldak’s double heat ellipsoid heat source distribution is selected of the simulation of welding process. This project starting with creating the modeling geometry in the CATIA V5 software, meshing in MSC NASTRAN PATRAN software and followed by imported the geometry to the Simufact. Welding. The results were observer after 200sec on different welding design. en_US
