Abstract:
Stroller-escalator accident cases are getting worse in the community nowadays especially when babies are
involved in this matter. Modern parents are lacking on their awareness towards their children’s safety as
they often ignore the warning signs on the escalator which does not allow pram or strollers on escalator.
The suitable mechanism that can be used to take children with stroller is lift or elevator. Most parents will
take their children who are in the stroller to climb up and down the escalator with an excuse that
using elevator is a troublesome as the elevator is far from them. We cannot predict every situation
to happen but we can still think logically what will happen when we do the action. What can be done
to avoid the accident cases to become worsen? A system need to be built to prevent the community
from doing the dangerous action without taking serious consideration on their child’s safety.
Therefore, Security for Baby Stroller should be implemented on every stroller around the world.
Security for Baby Stroller is an automatic braking system developed for stroller as present stroller
in the market is manual braking system. This project is a braking system that using sensor to detect
any obstacle and ask the stroller to stop immediately and automatically. This braking system does not
only function to avoid stroller from going up and down the escalator, but it is also can be used to
avoid anything around it as it will stop automatically when the it detects people passing by or any
other object that obstruct its way. As the operation of Security for Baby Stroller, when there is
any obstacle detected the circuit will send signal to the braking system so that it will immediately
operates to stop the stroller wheels. The main purpose of Security for Baby Stroller is to prevent
stroller-escalator accident cases become so worse in our community thus to avoid stroller from
colliding with human or non-human object that obstruct the way.
