The 21st Century Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): The Shift of Re-verse Logistics Applied to Circular Economy

Abstract

Reverse logistics plays the key role in the realization of the circular economy. Reverse logistics is the driving force of the forming of circular economy. A circular economy has become a key strategy for implementing sustainable development. Sustainability is the mechanism that enables the circular economy to work. Recently, many organizations are ready to move forward shift from linear economy to circular economy because the organization starts considering sustainable approach to balanced out opportunities for businesses and the preservation of the environment. The adoption of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is one of the most effective ways to pursue a company's sustainability. The purpose of this study is to comprehend and identify the factors that caused an organization to implement reverse logistics and applied to circular economy. To reach the research objective, this study explores secondary data which review the literature and conducted structured interviews with field expertise for data collection and the inter-view transcripts were analyzed using thematic analysis methods. The findings indicate that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is one of the main factors that encourage organizations to implement circular economy applied to reverse logistics. Hence, this study can conclude that reverse logistics is a strategic tool for implementing the circular economy’s strategy vision.
